About us

What easels work with Max?

Max will fit on most metal tripod easels and camera tripods.  It almost seems easier to mention the ones he does not suit than to find a list of the ones that he instantly takes to.

I will begin below with the models customers have written to us about and continue adding as we receive more feedback.  We are anxious to know your experiences.

  • Feather Pro 190 my favourite (on Amazon)
  • Cullmann Magic 2 tripod.
  • Manffroto tripod
  • Windsor Newton Bristol

  • Heritage Aluminum Watercolour Easel
  • Stanrite Portable Easel No.300 only with EB90
  • Martin Universal Design Integra
  • Sierra
  • Anderson Travel Easel (FE-128)
  • Sunpak 6601UT
  • Slik U8000

  • Holbein New Silver Easel WL-113
  • Gitzo series tripod

  • and many more that we are waiting to hear about

  • Herring Versatile Easel.  This easel too wide to accommodate Max…he is versatile also but stretching is not one of his qualities.
  •  Anderson Swivel Easel.  This easel is also too wide for Max, though the Anderson Travel Easel suits him well.
  • Easels with legs thinner than ¾ in.(1.8 cm)   This is mostly a strength issue.  We can make you an EB80 which is narrower and sits well on a thin leg but is your lightweight easel capable of supporting the weight you want to pile on him?
  • Wooden easels with legs thicker than 1.25 in. (3 cm)
  • French easels.  Max may well fit your French Easel legs but you have no need for him as you have your own shelf
  • Soltek easel.  The legs are too far apart to accommodate Max.

Customer Feedback

I wanted to thank you so much for recommending the Feather Pro 190 easel. I bought the Easel Butler about 3 or 4 years ago and was using it with my Windsor Newton Bristol easel. I found the setup a little bit frustrating. (Not the fault of the Easel Butler - fault with the easel!)
But now with my new Feather Pro, set up is so much simpler. Thanks for posting this useful info on your website. I am excited to spread the word about my simple, lightweight and carefree setup for plein air!   ...Janet Bornemann
