Well he may miss out on the tall and dark part being compact and satiny but he is a handsome fellow nonetheless.
He weighs in at just 12.2 oz or 345 grams (remember the bananas...) and is just under 14 inches or 35 cm in length, which is impressive and a proud 1.5 inches or 4 cm across the beam so he snuggles well into any nook or cranny when you are on the move.
He clings onto just about any metal tripod design but just to be safe, before you order you should take a few measurements to be sure that he will suit. Blind dates are not always a good idea.
You will want to ascertain that the contact points at which he will nestle onto your easel are not in conflict with any protruding appendages such as leg joints or center braces. In that event, custom adaptations can be made, most often at no additional cost. If you are not certain, fill in the form at the bottom of the page and we will decide for you.
The maximum thickness of leg that Max can accommodate is just under 1.25 in (3.2 cm) Narrower is not a problem as the natural tilt of a tripod allows for a level arm with the adjustment of the back leg. He has been tried on easel legs as slim as 3/4 in (28mm) with success but it is important to keep in mind the weight load you are planning to use and the sturdiness of your easel.
Max's arms extend out to a maximum of 11 in (28cm) but can be retracted to protrude as little as necessary. Any box sitting them can comfortably extend 2 or 3 inches (5 or 8 cm ) over the ends of the arms.
To mount Max, you simply face the logo away from you and slide him down the two chosen legs until they make contact on both sides before inserting the arms. Some of his publicity shots here show him straddling the easel with the logo toward the front. It makes no difference..he is very versatile. See helpful hints.
Myself, I prefer to get really close and personal with my paintings and as much as I dearly love and need Max, let's face it....at times he can simply be in the way. I find I am much more comfortable with him mounted on the side rather than in the frontal position and if you're not sure of your inclinations you can check out your option by viewing some of the candid shots posted in his Exposé Gallery.
But before you go....here is the 'inside' scoop on the rest of Max's stats to help you make certain he truly is the one for you and your easel along with a handy form you can send along to us if you want clarification of whether or not we think he will suit. If you need a particular size to fit your easel, we do customs orders, often at little or no extra cost.
